My entire life can be described in one sentence. It didn't go as planned!
Kara is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and Reiki Master Teacher (RMT). Her practice entails delivering integrated therapies and energy work focusing on the mind, body, and spirit to nurture individuals experiencing any combination of mental, emotional, or physical challenges. The mind and body have an incredible ability to heal themselves, and her passion is helping guide individuals on the path toward that healing.
Reiki entered her life following a devastating loss. During this time she was led on her own journey of healing and self discovery as she faced unanticipated storms in life. She took a sabbatical for one year and drove from Virginia to Alaska alone, seeking answers and pursuing a desire to return to her essence.
She discovered that each of us has an inner wisdom leading and guiding us through the trials of life. This is the voice of our intuition. As she followed that guidance, she was led on an incredible journey unearthing a more empowered version of herself. Kara has applied what she learned on her journey to her practice and is passionate about helping individuals access their own inner wisdom through their intuition.
During her travels, she had the opportunity to live in the home of a Reiki master, an experience and partnership that shifted her focus from using solely traditional psychotherapy to incorporating energy work. In 2013, she was attuned as a Reiki I and II practitioner in Portland, Oregon using the Usui Healing System. She later went on to become a Reiki master in 2014 while studying energy work in the Sacred Valley in Peru. Reiki and energy work has become an important part of her personal and professional life.
Spring and Summer are great times to renew and re-energize. I'm looking forward to working with Return to Balance with Reiki clients seeking to continue their self-care and align themselves with their highest good. I am especially interested in working with people who carry grief and who feel unsure of their life path.

My healing philosophy is one of meeting you "where you are...as you are..." with total acceptance. I honor all paths, values and the experiences that make the unique person you are. I turn the process of healing over to the Reiki, and most importantly, to you. We will work together to craft the customized support you need to return to a place of balance and personally thrive.
Chris Rinaldi began her Reiki journey in 1997 at a public Reiki share in East Hampton Long Island, NY. After receiving a brief treatment, the effect for her was immediate and profound. Chris experienced an intense emotional release and her passion for Reiki and spiritually based healing work was ignited.
Chris extensively studied numerous spiritual and energetic healing systems while living and traveling abroad. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Long Island University, Friends World Program, with a concentration in Esoteric Studies and the Human Energetic Anatomy.
Chris received her 1st degree Reiki attunements in 2002 in the Usui Healing System by Reiki Master-Teacher, Rhonda Blunden, in London, England. Her second degree and Master Teacher training is in the Quan Yin School of Reiki healing taught by Reiki Master-Teacher, Catelena Shephard in Leicester, NC in 2014. Chris underwent additional training in Holy Fire II Reiki with Bryce Goebel in 2017. She most recently completed her training as a Gendai Reiki-Master teacher in 2018 with Michelle McAlpin.
After becoming a Reiki Master Teacher, it became clear to Chris that working with Reiki was part of her life's purpose, specifically in the context of mental wellness. Recognizing this calling, Chris founded Return To Balance With Reiki in 2014. She is a passionate supporter of the recovery movement, a participant in Project Semicolon, and is a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist.
